Duas Collection

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

For parents:

رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

My Lord, have mercy upon them (parents) as they brought me up [when i was] small.

Dua before sleeping:

اَللَّهُمَّ بِاِسْمِكَ اَمُوْتُ وَاَحْيَ

O Allah (SWT), with Your name, do I die and live. (Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Pg. 178).

Dua when you wake up:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

All praise is due to Allah SWT who has given us life after death and to Him is the return after death. (Bukhaari Vol. 2, Pg. 934)

Before entering the toilet:

اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّـي أَعـوذُ بِـكَ مِـنَ الْخُـبْثِ وَالْخَبائِث

O Allah SWT, I seek Your protection from the male and female Devil. (Tirmidhi, Vol. 1, Pg. 3)

After leaving the toilet:

غُفْرَانَك

I seek Your pardon. Praise be to Allah (SWT) who removed from me discomfort and gave me relief. (Ibnu Majah, Pg.26)

For increase in knowledge:

رب زدني علما

O My Lord, Increase me in knowledge. (Sura Ta’ha, S.20/V.114)

Before wudhu (ablution):

بِسْمِ اللهِ العظيم والحمد لله على دين الاسلام

(I commence Wudhu), in the name of Allah SWT the Great and all praise be to Allah SWT (for keeping me faithful) in the Deen (religion) of Islam. (Majmauz-zawaaid)

While performing wudhu:

اللهم اغفر لي ذنبي ووسع لي في داري وبارك لي في رزقي

O Allah SWT, forgive my sins and grant me abundance in my home and blessings in my livelihood. (Amalul Yawmi wal Layla, Nasai, Pg172).

After wudhu:

اللهم اجعلني من التوابين واجعلني من المتطهرين

O Allah SWT, make me of the repenters and make me of the purified. (Tirmidhi, Vol. 1, Pg. 9) The benefit of reciting this dua is that eight different doors of Jannah will be be opened for the one who recites this and he will have to chose which door he wants to enter from.

Before leaving the house:

بِسْمِ اللهِ ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِالله

In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah; there is no might and no power except by Allah. Prophet (SAW) said that whosoever recites this dua when leaving his home, then it is said to him (by the angels) “You shall be guided, your needs shall be taken care of, you will be protected and may shaytaan go far away from you.” (Tirmidhi)

When entering home:

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنـا ، وَبِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنـا ، وَعلى ربّنا توكّلْنـا ثم يسلّم على أهله

In the Name of Allah we enter, in the Name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we depend [then say As-Salaamu‘Alaykum to those present]. [ Abu Dau’d ]

Dua before meal:

بسم الله وعلى بركة الله

In the name of Allah (SWT) and upon the blessings of Allah (SWT). (Al-Hisnul Haseen Pg. 141)

Dua after meal:

الحمد لله الذى اطعمنى هذا ورزقنى من غير حول منى ولا قوة

All praise is due to Allah who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavour on my part or any power. (Abu Dawood Vol 2 pg 538)

Dua for travelling:

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ.

Glory unto Him Who created this transportation, for us, though we were unable to create it on our own. And unto our Lord we shall return.

Dua for forgiveness:

رب اغفر لي وتب على إنك أنت التواب الرحيم

My Lord! Forgive me and accept my repentance for You are indeed Most Forgiving Most Merciful.(Sura Nuh S:71 V:28)

Dua for protection from evil eye:

أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من كل شيطان و هامة ، و من كل عين لامة

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous reptile and from every evil eye.(Bukhari Vol 2 pg 861)

Dua for anxiety and sorrow:

اللھُمّ اکفِ نی بحالیک عن حال سواک ، و اغنینی بفضیک عمّ من سواک

O Allah! Suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You have forbidden , and make me independent of all others besides You.(Tirmidhi Vol 2 pg 163)

Dua for good health:

اللھُمّ اعافینی فی بدنی ، الھُمّ اعافینی فی سمعی ، الھُمّ اعافینی فی بصری ، لاإلھ إلا أ

O Allah! Grant health to my body.O Allah! Grant health to my hearing.O Allah! Grant health to my sight.There is no god but You.(Abu Dawood Vol 2 pg 200)

Dua for the Sighting of the Moon

اللَّهمَّ أَهلَّهُ علينَا بالأمنِ والإيمانِ والسَّلامةِ والإسلامِ ربِّي وربُّكَ اللَّهُ

Oh Allah, make it a start full of peace and faith, safety and Islam. My lord and your lord is Allah.”

Dua for Laylatil Qadr

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفْوٌ تٌحِبٌّ العَفْوَ فَأَعْفَوْ عَنِّي

May the fasting people break fast at your place, and may the pious eat from your food, and may the angels pray for you.

Dua for Opening Your Fast

وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ

I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

Dua for Breaking Your Fast

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ اٰمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلٰي رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

Oh Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You [and I put my trust in You] and I break my fast with Your sustenance.
